Loretta's Countdown to 60

Aging on my terms - Daily musings in 500 words or so

Happy Birthday to youth

Yesterday I posted my Wednesday “Let’s do this together” video. Each week I like to share some little tidbit about exercise or diet that I have gleaned from my week. And yesterday’s post was about trying to get enough exercise while on the road.

Have you ever toured or stayed on the Queen Mary, in Long Beach, CA?

After we left The Queen Mary, John dropped me off at The Great Wolf Lodge to meet my son, daughter-in-law and their two girls. Our youngest granddaughter turns five today, and we met to celebrate.

We waved goodbye to John as he headed off to meet a customer and hurried to check out the lodge. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard of this place but I like to call it “Vegas for kids”.

Once inside, all of your kid senses are filled to the brim. After changing into our bathing suits, we made our way to the immense indoor water park. I’ll admit I was just as impressed as my granddaughters were.

Three hours later, it was all I could do to drag my tired body back to our room. John got back from work just in time for dinner at the child appropriate hour of 5:30. And by 7:00 I was done for the night!

We have another day of fun planned and it will be all I can do to keep up with those two little girls. Remind me to never complain that I can’t get enough exercise in again!

Happy 5th Birthday to my funny, loving, amazing granddaughter, Brenna! I met this incredible child when she was one day old and I’ve watched as she has captured the hearts of every single person who has met her.

I’m determined to keep up with her and her sister and when she turns 25, I’ll be right there joining in the fun, whatever it is.
