Loretta's Countdown to 60

Aging on my terms - Daily musings in 500 words or so

Let’s do this together video – No diet no dye

I meant to get on today and talk about the Mediterranean Diet and how important it is to heart health.

Only the lady staring back at me in the camera was way too distracting!

Remember when I said I was fine dying my hair, thank you very much, and I didn’t have beautiful silver hair? Well, I’ve decided to embrace my gray, even if it is not silver.

Today, my hairdresser put in highlights where my gray is to help me transition to my natural color. And…she cut off at least 6″ of length too.

Have you thought about letting your hair go back to natural? Are you thinking of being gray and proud? Try highlights to help with the transition.

Lots of highlights where the gray is!

We will see how it grows out…but for now, I’m adjusting to the light hair! Wow!

Have you thought about it? What do you think?

  1. I love it! Your transition looks so much better than my ‘cold turkey’ transformation is going! I am at least 6 months color free! It sucks to have two inches of brunette on the ends of all my gray hair though! I can’t figure out why it never washes out or fades-I guess when they say permanent hair color, they mean that it is there until it is cut off!! I think I’m going to have dingy gray locks and not beautiful salt and pepper and now almost white like my brother. How is that fair??? Anyway, just thought I would say that yours looks very nice and natural!

      Thank you Mary….

Yeah, last time I did this I was envisioning long silver locks…not so much. Mine is a dingy gray except for the very front. But there are products that can help with it. I joined a Facebook page called, Gray and Proud and they have lots of suggestions.

I couldn’t do the half and half look last time, so I just chopped it off. Had it natural for two years, then caved! Here I go again.

    It looks fabulous!!!
I haven’t dyed my hair in 4 years now, and I hope I can embrace the grays in all of their glory. Actually I think it’ll be an easier transition than embracing my white legs—and I’m fine with them now!! So bring it on, greys!!

  3. I stopped dying my hair 18 months ago. I had been dying for more years than I care to count. Now it’s almost totally white. I’m loving it. My hair is healthier, I don’t have to worry about roots showing after 2 weeks…..it’s freedom! I wish there was a way to send you “before & after” pics. I also want to say that I think your “light” hair looks much better on you. Even if you stay with that and don’t go natural (gray isn’t for everyone) the lighter hair complements your completion so much more.

      Thank you Kathy!
I was blonde as a kid, and had blonde hair until I got pregnant….just kept getting darker, so I dyed it! Like you, I’ve been dying my hair for YEARS now. I wish I could see your photos!! You may have to email some to me!

Thank you for the lovely compliments. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I love your new look – and I think this is the approach I will go one day. Not ready yet – I’ve talked to my hairdresser about it and she says not enough gray that route yet. So it’s on my radar. I love your new length and the color! You look fantastic!

Thank you Cindy! You will rock the gray, once it comes in, I’m sure!

  5. OH MY GRAVY! If I could do this right now with the same results, I would! Your gray tones and shorter length are so fresh and youthful. Who would have thought that going au naturale could be so refreshing. Gorgeous!

Thank you Leslie!! I am happier since I added some silver to it, because it’s closer to my natural color now!
