Loretta's Countdown to 60

Aging on my terms - Daily musings in 500 words or so

Recover and restore

I’m sitting down to write at a beautiful, peaceful setting that I want to share with you. I helped my son move this week, and it was a bit stressful, but to top it off, I caught my husband’s cold (yes, I’m throwing you under the bus John).

For the last two days I’ve been surviving on DayQuil and NyQuil, which has helped, but I’m still having trouble breathing.

So I’m going to keep this short, and go lay back down for a little while.

Our trip up to Oregon was a good one, with our first stop at my best friends house. She had a wonderful meal prepared for us when we arrived and we were treated like family, as usual.

My best friend made our first stop perfect

What a feast!

The next morning, after breakfast we headed north, and all was going well until we hit the Siskiyou Mountains and the truck started overheating. It was the 4th of July and we pulled into the town of Shasta to cool off. We wound around side streets to avoid the parade, and found a gas station.

We managed to cool off and got back on the road. But just before the California / Oregon border, the truck overheated again. It was like California was laughing at us and trying to keep us in.

Someone got to sleep on the ride

Come on Oregon!

Persistence won, and we forged ahead and, despite the holiday, found an open auto parts store to replace a faulty radiator cap.

Yay, Oregon!

Oregon is so beautiful with its trees and hills and mountains and rivers. I hope my son will be happy in this place, and find some peace to recover and restore his soul.

Speaking of recovering, John and I found a wonderful hideaway on the Rogue River to relax and soak in the beauty. I better get a little more rest before heading back to my son’s place to help hang curtains.

Thank you Shelly. We won’t go up to Bend this trip (I lived there 30 years and have seen enough of it), but we may go over to Brookings on our way home!

  2. Lovely pics Loretta. Take echinacea to prevent colds. It works for me…

Thank you Mary. She is the best cook, for sure. It was a great pit stop on our way.

It’s been just over a week, and Oregon is already helping my son find his center. Xx
