Countdown to 60

Aging on my terms - Daily musings in 500 words or so

What do you do to stay focused on gratitude?

I’m continuing with the theme that naturally started this last week and talking about gratitude today. I’ve touched on kindness and grace, which I believe come from gratefulness.

I’ve had gratitude journals, and do a vision board most years, but the thing I do most consistently is to think about what I’m grateful for just before I go to sleep at night. And then in the mornings, set my intention for the day before my feet hit the ground.

It takes just a few moments to do these simple things, and for me, it’s helped me stay focused on the good things around me.

Have you ever created a vision board?

What do you do to stay focused on what you are grateful for? I’d love to hear your ideas.

  1. I’ve never made a vision board, but I do live in gratitude. I think that helped me get through the death of my only child. I chose to be grateful for the time we had instead of focusing on what I don’t have. There are definitely moments when I still get sad and miss him so much, but overall I’m so thankful I had him and loved him like I did. I’m thankful for him. I really feel lucky I had 22 years with him. He was that special! Thanks for sharing your good vibes and ideas. xo Cindy

You are such an inspiration to me Cindy. When I first learned about the loss of your son, I cried. I still cry just thinking about it. I admire your courage to keep going…in gratitude. Much love to you dear one.

  2. I’ve never done a Vision Board, but I’ve done an Inspirational Board. I’m definitely going to do this. I saved a bunch of magazines for just this purpose. Thank you!

I think an Inspirational Board is about the same thing. I don’t spend a lot of time fretting about what I put on my board, just things that either make me happy or inspire me or what I want for my life. Have fun with it girl!

  3. Gratitude, for some reason, always seems to filter to the bottom of the pile. Kindness, grace, empathy, those things seem to be more important for some reason and I don’t know why. So I forget to think about the things I’m grateful for, and needed this reminder.

Those other things may be easier because they are what you do for others? It can be easier to give to others and difficult to do the same for ourselves.
