We found a beautiful boutique hotel in San Francisco called Hotel Majestic. I thought it was a fitting tribute to our wedding at City Hall with its turn of the century Edwardian architecture.
I felt like royalty walking through the doors into the marble
tiled lobby. This beautiful old hotel was built in 1902 and is one of the few
buildings that survived the 1906 earthquake and subsequent fires that
devastated so much of this amazing city.
Birthdays are a big deal to me, but you probably already
know that. And without trying to state the obvious, this next one is perhaps
the biggest in the deal department yet.
I can only remember one birthday party as a kid. Just one. I
may have singled this one party out, but I doubt it. The reason it may stand
out the most is that was also the occasion that my younger brother, Brian,
decided to stand on the fence and pee in front of my friends.
I know birthdays are not a big deal for everyone, but for me, they’re important. Maybe it’s because I was born on Mother’s Day 1959 and I’ve shared my birthday with that holiday many times since.
Or maybe it’s because I only remember having ONE birthday party when I was a kid. And I’m pretty sure that was the time my brother stood on the fence and pee’d in front of everyone, effectively ruining my birthday.
