This week was a bit of an experiment for me.
The first thing I did was to implement a schedule for myself. Yeah I know, sometimes I can be a slow learner.
I wanted to be sure to allow time for exercise and social media but also to have time to actually write.
It seemed I was always trying to find occasions to write and I realized time wasn’t going to jump out of a cake and yell, “Surprise!” I was going to have to carve out moments each day if I wanted to get words on paper.
So I did.
And what better way to test the formula than to continue telling my story? I gave myself permission each day to write, or at least think about what I wanted to compose.
And it felt decadent.

It also flowed out of me in a matter of minutes. The words went from my head straight to the keyboard without hesitation.
The instant I took the pressure off myself of squeezing out a post here and there in my “spare time” and instead allowed a block of time each day to create, the easier it was to write.
And it was fun too.
So, yeah, I’ve made a decision: This is going to be the year of the book.
What helped the most in reaching this conclusion was you. I may have written it, but you read it. Thank you for all of your encouragement. You have been so supportive and caring and uplifting, and I do appreciate that.
Don’t ask me what kind of book I’m going to write, because I’m still looking for the right recipe. But I’ll find it. And once I get started on it, you may not hear from me as often, but I’ll be right here writing.
Because I know this is the year of my book.

Kudos on the upcoming book! I too have committed to having a more “scheduled” life, to include a scheduled blocks for writing and reading. I would love to see a future post with an example of how you carved out your time.

Thank you Anita!!
I decided to allow for social media from 8am to 9am. Then exercise and get ready for my day. From 10:30-2:30 I’ve blocked out time to write and create. What a difference it’s made!! Then 3pm-5pm social media and then I’m done with “work” for the day. I feel like a new person on this schedule.

Loretta, thanks for sharing! I’ve been trying to find my daily schedule “sweet spot” making sure I incorporate time for self care, personal development, and specific client work blocks, as well as fitting in writing and reading time. It’s been a bit challenging but I am confident I will find something that works. 😊

Wow! A book is an ambitious project. And it’s on my bucket list too. That’s why I started my blog, so I would be writing on a regular basis. I hope the process is everything you dream it will be. Sounds like you are off to a good start with your schedule. All the best.

Writing your blog will help for sure.
I helped my husband with his book, and at least know the ins and outs of it…big project, as you say.
Thank you!

Wow, that is so interesting! I’m a fly by the seat of my pants kind of person and usually go with the flow. But whoa man, social media is such a time sucker!
